Adding Integers
At anytime you are having trouble, please raise your hand. I will only respond to hands.
I will not respond to voices calling my name! Love you all though.
READ THROUGH ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING.
FIRST: This lesson is going to lay the basics of adding negative and positive numbers. First watch this video that will review the basics of what we covered in our previous unit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0E4vxLydNY
SECOND: Then go to your comp book, page 8. Write this in your table of contents:
pg 95 Adding Integers
THIRD: Then watch this video about adding integers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYdVKlyn1pE
FOURTH: I am going to let you have freedom on page 94 and 95. This means that you are allowed to set up your notes anyway that you wish. You may draw pictures, use doodles, or color to help you remember whatever you need to help you remember. I will look over your notes so be sure that they are neat and legible.
In your notes you should have:
1. Definition of an integer
2. A number line (you can get this off of the table by the door) tape or glue in.
3. The rule for adding negative integers (*cough* *cough* this can be found by playing the video at 2:55, watch what is written on the pink page (and listening to what they say) then copying the info into your notebook. And no, it does not have to look exactly the same.)
4. These four examples, and solve (we will go over these) :
Ex 1. -5 + 3
Ex 2. 7 + (-8)
Ex 3. -6 + 13
Ex 4. 25 + (-14)
FIFTH: Check your learning using this online quiz. (only answer the first 5 questions)
http://www.mrmaisonet.com/index.php?/Integer-Quizzes/Add-And-Subtract-Integers.html
This is important, READ ME! If you are comfortable with adding negative integers and you rocked your online quiz then go on to the next part. This classwork assignment will be graded. If you are not comfortable at this point then you may want to meet with me for additional practice.
You will need a sheet of notebook paper, put your name on it and number from 1 -14.
Open this link and NEATLY answer the questions (write the problem & the answer).
Turn into your class basket.

When you are finished, move on to the next lesson.
